State of the NFL 2023 - The Offseason: The AFC East is Blazing

Bill Belichick closing in on Don Shula’s wins record - The Sports Daily

New England Patriots

Looking for his 18th division title, HC Bill Belichick must turn the page on the post-Tom Brady era Patriots this year. The Patriots have logged two seasons under .500 while not making the playoffs. Questionable draft selections, hiring (or lack thereof) of unqualified staff, and the passing of the old guard have again plagued the Patriots' chances at post-season success. Adding former OC Bill O'Brien should do a much better job of covering for the loss of Josh McDaniels than last year's "mystery OC" experiment. Barring any additional moves and a solid draft class, this is a 9-8 team looking from outside the playoff picture and bottom of the division. Notable Additions: WR Smith Schuster, RB James Robinson, TE Mike Gesicki. Notable Departures: S Devin McCourty, RB Damien Harris, WR Jakobi Meyers

Jets officially acquire Aaron Rodgers - CP

New York Jets

Writing about the 2023 Jets has been a spectacle to behold already. This piece has changed more times in a week than games the Jets won last season. Boasting a 7-10 record was a much better feat than we predicted last year for the team, but it was not nearly enough. The disappointment in the QB room might have cost the Jets their first playoff entry since 2010. Having acquired QB Aaron Rodgers via trade from the Green Bay Packers, the team has positioned itself in the conversation to win the division. The acquisitions of other Rodgers-approved players are pending in the background to bolster the roster. Moves such as these will put this team and their HC, Robert Salah, safely in the playoff picture and off the hot seat at 11-6. Notable Additions: QB Aaron Rodgers, WR Mecole Hardman, WR Allen Lazard. Notable Departures: WR Elijah Moore

Tyreek Hill and Jalen Ramsey could form the best WR-DB duo - CP

Miami Dolphins

Another head-scratching finish to the season for the Miami Dolphins, who were at one point the hottest team in the NFL once again. QB Tua Tagovailoa's health became the biggest obstacle for the team to overcome. A record high in all passing and efficiency metrics under his new HC Mike McDaniel and star WR Tyreek Hill, the team scraped out a 9-8 record. The argument to be made would be if Tua were healthy, how many games would this team have won? Maybe one more win is needed to fulfill our prediction for this team last year at 10-7. Adding CB Jalen Ramsey to this already star-studded secondary and squad will only help their win-now push. Let's throw on another win for this year's improved and hopefully healthy Dolphins squad at 11-6. Notable Additions: CB Jalen Ramsey, DC Vic Fangio. Notable Departures: TE Mike Gesicki

How much time do the Bills have at the top of the AFC East? - CP

Buffalo Bills

Tragedy struck the Bills in a Week 17 game against the Cincinnati Bengals, where S Damar Hamlin left the field in one of the scariest medical emergencies in recent history. The team heroically stunned the world with their late-season rally, creating a potential storybook ending, heading into the playoffs. Unfortunately, the Bills fell short against that same Bengals side from a few weeks prior. The attention turned towards QB Josh Allen, who has lost several playoff games in his early tenure. The direction of this team is still moving forward, being linked to trade talks involving WR Deandre Hopkins. Regardless of any further moves, expect this team to finish division champs like last year's 12-5 record. Notable Additions: RB Damien Harris Notable Departures: LB Tremaine Edmunds, WR Isaiah McKenzie
