Maxwell Egbujor’s Hammer Em’ Home 5: Week 9 - NFL 2021 Season
All odds presented by The Action Network as of 11/4/2021 4:00PM PST
My ‘Hammer Em’ Home 5’ are the 5 bets across the NFL betting stratosphere that I favor the strongest for the week. This week, we’re starting off with spreads. Soon, we’ll be including totals, ML and a 3 team parlay as icing on the cake. Without further ado, here we go!
Houston +5.5 | 96% of the $$ | 52% of the BETS
We're reaching the mid-way point in the season, where hopeless teams such as the Houston Texans manage to scratch and crawl their way into covering the spread against another team whose fortune this season is bleak. The Dolphins are swimming in Deshaun Watson trade rumors for naught, they have injuries across the offensive line, and the public's confidence in Tua is gone, let alone his personal confidence for the season. Take that, and Tyrod Taylor comes back into play (barring Dr. Needle rears his head around), one of the worst professional organizations in sports has a chance to cover.
Falcons +6.5 | 65% of the $$ | 43% of the BETS
Like the Falcons this week? I love them! An underdog in a historic divisional rivalry, a game after the Saints collect their biggest win of the season. No Jameis means either Trevor or Taysom trots out at QB for Sean Payton. Give me the points all day. The Falcons are coming off of a lackluster offensive performance versus a stout Carolina Panthers defense. Expect Matt Ryan, even with a punctured hand, to bounce back and keep it close. Since falling to 0-2, Ryan uplifted Atlanta to two straight wins. His 1,204 yards, 10 touchdowns and 106.9 passer rating provide stability to a relatively young offense.
Raiders -3 | 89% of the $$ | 73% of the BETS
The Las Vegas Raiders are only 3-point favorites over a Giants team whose offense has rarely ever been in sync during the Daniel Jones era. The New York Football Giants are coming off of a disappointing loss that literally slipped out of their fingers, discombobulated with no offensive identity and injuries. Meanwhile, I get a red-hot Las Vegas Raiders team off the bye. Raiders are third in offensive EPA and have the most efficient passing game in the NFL statistically, led by Derek Carr, who isn't even playing his best football, yet. I'll swallow 3 points all day for the Raiders.
Bengals -2.5 | 50% of the $$ | 68% of the BETS
The Bengals youth is the primary reason Mike White became the reincarnation of Steve Young in Week 8 of the NFL, perhaps one of the most eccentric weekends of football we'll have in the decade regarding backups being successful. The Browns are in an internal scramble regarding the Odell Beckham Jr. situation, Baker is playing with half of his upper body healthy, and the Bengals offensively are the real deal. Swallow the 2.5 points, and watch Joe Burrow make a mess of the Browns.
Colts -10.5 | 70% of the $$ | 40% of the BETS
Big Money Mike will not reincarnate into Steve Young two weeks in a row. Mike White and Steve Young are the only NFL Quarterbacks in NFL history to comeback down double digits in the fourth quarter in their first starts. The Broadway magic will wear off, the Colts will rebound from their biggest loss of the schedule regarding importance (Officially lose the tiebreaker to the Tennessee Titans), and the Colts will cover this game in a blowout at home.
